Unemployment rates, particularly in Texas, have been fluctuating all year. It was only until recently that the number of Americans filing for unemployment benefits began to fall. Initial claims are said to be as low as 260,000 and what is even more astonishing is that these claims have been between 260,000-300,000 for forty two consecutive weeks. The United States has not seen numbers like these since the 1970s this is a huge accomplishment for us as a nation. Factors do need to be considered when analyzing the total amount, for instance whether we like to believe it or not the holiday season plays a big part if not the biggest part in consumer spending.
Overall data still continues to bob between an increase and decrease therefore creating a consistent rate labor market trends rose 1,750 according to the four – week moving average. as a result the United States government debt increased and United States stock index futures increased as well. After the first week there was a decline in claims (-47,000). By the end of the entire average period The claims again Rose 10,000 to reach 2.21 million. The surveys continued and as they did claims continued to rise. Between November and December claims were said to of increased to about 42,250, which almost completely catches up to what originally decreased. This of course results in an overall little change in the jobless rate. While unemployment has dropped it has only been 7/10 of a single percentage point, of course it is up an percentage point, of course it is an accomplishment of sorts to even have a decrease be made. More can and should be done to make the number larger.
Myself being a teenager and not actively seeking work nor being retired I am not affected directly by these numbers now, but I will be in the future. I would like my chances at a stable and secure employment in my adulthood to be steady and I'm sure my peers would not hesitate to agree. If the economy and the job market continue the rate it is going now there will be a change by the time I am included into the working class but not by much. More jobs have been created and more can still be it is now time to fill the positions and increase our pace in getting everyone a stable lifestyle.
